Distortion Matrix

The range and control of a multiband dist meets a modular core. Split your sound into three bands, throw it in the matrix and sculpt it with surgical precision.
Get Osmium

The densest element on Earth; listed on the periodic table with atomic number 76.

We call it a Distortion Matrix. Distortion means anything from subtle tape saturation to speaker-melting noise. Matrix means nine freely routable effect slots, three frequency bands and endless combinations of effects. The result is a device so essential to your Rack that it could demand its own spot on the periodic table, right next to oxygen and carbon.

Split your sound into multiple bands, then route, reroute, and redesign it all in seconds across nine different modular slots. With Osmium's modular workflow, every patch comes to life, letting your audio breathe in a way that makes static distortion feel frozen by comparison.

Named after the densest element on earth, Osmium’s distortion holds weight wherever you apply it. The surrounding effects let you shape, bend, and augment that same distortion into sounds that are heavy where they should be, warm when you need it, and flexible enough to live anywhere in your mix.

You can also patch any device from Reason’s ecosystem directly into Osmium’s signal chain, enabling sounds that couldn’t exist anywhere else and blurring the lines between devices. Unique algorithms and over 200 expertly crafted patches lend any sound its own character and makes Osmium feel right at home in the Rack. As if it’s been there all along.

It’s elemental distortion. And modular destruction.

features
Add effect modules to the slots in the matrix to create your signal chain, the panel to the left always shows the selected module
Split your input signal in up to three bands and process the frequencies separately for detailed sound shaping
Add effects to the input or output to process the entire sound before or after the band split, perfect for gluing everything together
Freely route modules to create parallel processing, novel signal chains, and other custom set-ups for deep sound design
Add movement to the mayhem with the modulation matrix
Harness the power of the Reason Rack: connect external effects into Osmium’s signal chain and control parameters with CV
